I just unboxed it.. placed it on the rack, hooked up an Ethernet cable and then added it to my Roon devices.
I did have to run Konfig to set it to variable output but that was it.
Here's my 2 cents - I have always baulked at the cost of the last Linn Klimax. Not that they don't sound good. But I guess I have conscious bias that it is still using an off the shelf AKM DAC inside. But within a few seconds of trying out this demo, I knew it was special. It retains the richness and warmth that Linn is known for.. but there is also that resolving ability to hear individual instruments - whether it is part of a multi-track recording or a section in the orchestra. I first noticed this on my EMM Labs.. the Playback Designs and also the PS Audio, and now the latest Linn Klimax. That combination of resolving detail and layers plus the warmth makes for a goosebumps combination. Makes me forget about the system and just concentrate on the music and the experience. |
Yeah, it's pretty damn good, isn't it? I've had mine for a few months.
