I don't know Scb if you are still interested in comparison between 14bsst2 and pass labs x350.5
I have both these amps and even now i am not sure which to sell.
I had paradigm sig 8 and was using bryston 14 bsst2 with it and was always finding faults in the sound, such as no depth in bass ,it was not going deep and three is a rumble in the tracks and felt that decay was too long and not good imaging?
So I bought pass labs x350.5
Everything improved all the things I mentioned .
But then I changed my speakers to Wilson Sasha .After getting Wilson Sasha I hooked them onto pass labs as Internet is full of praise about matching of Sasha and pass labs.
Things were fine but not exciting .
One day I just changed the amp from x350.5 to 14bsst2 and I felt there was lot more emotion in music .
The vocals were less clear but more larger on sound stage .
Seperation of instruments were better.
The hollow guitar had more timbre into it,
The rumble added emotion and bass was not that deep but was more lumpy
And the balance of vocal and orchestra was good.
I found with pass labs the sound was clearer and more prominent and if I turn the volume up to enjoying the instruments in the back ground then vocal s became too loud .and if I turn the volume low for vocals to be pleasing then I would loose the guitar and back ground sounds in soundstage .
And if you don't have the correct tonal balance you loose the emotion in sound.
The bottom line is I have ended up to stick with bryston sound because it's not that clear or analytic but it has got right tonal balance for me.
I am not an expert ,my humble opinion.
Now I wish to compare my 14bsst2 with28bssf2 if I can and if there is major improvement I have to go for that .
