John Coltrane & Don Cherry - The Avant-Garde
Qobuz 24/96

I stumbled upon this album via Roon.
Wasn't aware of this cooperation.
We see Coltrane in a Ornette Coleman role here, but you can easily recognise his sound.

Recorded in June & July '60, but only released in '66.

John Coltrane – tenor and soprano saxophone
Don Cherry – cornet
Charlie Haden – double bass (tracks 1:1, 2:1)
Percy Heath – double bass (tracks 1:2, 2:2, 2:3)
Ed Blackwell – drums
