I’m sure that the sound of output tubes will be heavily dependent on the speakers you use. I have a whole thread chronicling my tube rolling adventures. Weirdly, despite my speakers being a nominal 4 ohm load I did not like the sound of the kt88 as much as I have with lower output tubes like the 6v6 and now the 6k6gt. Someone earlier in this thread suggested using a 5w4 rectifier with 6k6 outputs. I can vouch that it a great combo.
