Don't be afraid of shooting competitions. Great fun and you will learn tons of good info. Shoot for the enjoyment of shooting against yourself. If you do better than others that's the icing.

Also, check out books by David Tubbs (several times nat'l champion) and Glen Zediker. GZ was sort of the "guru of the AR" and his books (sold direct or thru Amazon, etc.) cover most aspects of shooting the AR and I find them quite readable. |
Thanks for the information, Glenn. I’ve been checking out the books. Just happened to have lunch with a friend today and I asked if he lived near Alliance Rifle Club. He not only lives by it but his father-in-law (who lives across the street from him) has land I can shoot on.
