That's right, Julian. I've heard about him and I can see how he got obsessed with Mahler's 2nd. Somehow Mr. Kaplan got good enough to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra doing the Resurrection and have the performance recorded by DG on an SACD. In that sense he's peers with Karajan, Bernstein, Abbado, Solti, etc. That's saying something.
Unfortunately I don't have millions to learn how to conduct and hire my own orchestra, chorus and soloists, so I'll just stick with buying CDs for now.
