"Steinmetz Hall is billed as the only theater of its kind in the world, said to produce a perfect sound known as N-1.

“It’s not only to showcase our local talent but we want the world to perform here just as we want the world to visit here,” Katherine Ramsberger with the Dr. Phillips Center said.

Those with the performing arts center say the Inside of the hall has special acoustic panels that can move to suit the performance.

Under the hall, itself are rubber pads with air to cut down on vibration.

The floor can also shift, letting it host a range of events from a banquet to an opera.

The hall was supposed to be open when the performing arts center opened in 2014, but 2008’s recession had the project stalled financially.

It took a combination of donations, city and county money to finish the $240 million project.

The curtain will rise on the theater's first performance Friday, showcasing hundreds of Orlando's best talent including singers, dancers, poets and comedians."

Nearly 20 years in the making, Steinmetz Hall completes the Dr. Phillips Center’s original design, which also includes the interior Walt Disney Theater and Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater, as well as the outdoor Seneff Arts Plaza. And audiophiles, take note: Steinmetz Hall is designed to be one of the world’s most acoustically remarkable spaces. It’s even capable of achieving an N1 sound rating, which is the lowest level at which humans can detect sound.

The multi-form venue will also be one of the few theaters on the planet that can transform in shape, seating and sound to accommodate a stunning array of art forms and events, including concerts, ballet, live theater, comedy and much more. It all starts with Steinmetz Hall’s Grand Celebration Season, a once-in-a-lifetime affair that arts aficionados will not want to miss!
