I think nostalgia is a good way to describe some of this older gear. Like my B&O turntable - it is a nice piece but what I have now will run circles around it sound wise.

Tom.......My first audio system of any caliber was purchased in 1968. The system consisted of Altec Voice Of The Theater speakers, a pair of McIntosh MC30 mono tube amps, Dynaco PAS3 preamp and FM-3 tuner, and a Dual 1019 turntable with a Shure V15 Type II moving magnet cartridge. From that year until now, that's 50 years mind you, I have bought and sold enough audio gear to fill a used equipment audio store if I had it all back. I don't even want to think of the money because it was never about that, but I still had to pay to bring home the gear and seldom profited when sold. It has been a fun and exciting journey through many companies' product portfolios. Naturally, through those years I developed a certain fondness for particular components. Often in hind sight they are imagined to be better than they actually were, but that doesn't end the nostalgic daydreaming about gear gone by. It's part of the fun of being an audio enthusiast, at least from my perspective.
