That's correct, the powercords this happened to had guaranteed original Furutech Fi-50 NCF connectors, generation 1, purchased directly from the US Distributor. The cords were purchased a few years ago. I also have a couple cords from that same time period and before made with FI-48s that have no issue to this day.
