Default KIMBROUGH - Newvelle Records

My latest audio insanity has me working with Newvelle Records (newvelle-records.com). If you don't know them, they are a (nearly all) vinyl label that has put out multiple successful series of vinyl on kind of a subscription basis (~$400 for a certain number of albums during a year). The performances and audio are wonderful and the LPs are truly a work of art - I'd almost buy them for the cover art alone. (stereophile review of their Season Five: https://www.stereophile.com/content/...ds-season-five). Their most recent series on New Orleans music was awesome, including works from Irma Thomas (who sounded great) and most poignantly, the last recording by Ellis Marsalis (who died of COVID in early 2020).

They just released a digital series on Frank Kimbrough, who was a beloved jazz player and instructor (Juilliard, et al). Frank also unfortunately passed unexpectedly and much of the current jazz scene in NY came together to record 61 of his pieces in May - when everyone could get together to play and record, but touring had not cranked up yet. Here is a NY Times article on the recording and everything that Elan Mehler and the artists put into it.

I am glad to say that I was an executive producer of the LP (which really means financial support only). I hope you'll check it out and hope that you explore Newvelle Records - true works of art for vinyl heads (although this work is digital).
