For my shootout I had at my disposal my optimized Mac Mini with the Berkley Alpha USB converter. I also had a borrowed Lumin streamer, and later a Roon Nucleus to rotate as sources.
It showed me how much the source does matter. I have an Aurender N10 and N100H that I use now as well.
While the source has made big impacts, I was still able to hear the stark differences in DACs even with lesser sources.

You need the best transport to hear the DACs at their best for the shootout surely, else you might not be feeding them the best juice for them to perform.
