I never used a fuel stabilizer and for 30+ years always use BP Ultimate Premium, previously known as (Amoco) for all my engines and have never had any major problems starting in the beginning of season.
If you ever look at the BP gas, it is clear compared to others.
I started using STA-BIL 22205 Fuel Stabilizer this year though, just for the fun of it.
