Default Time to install top and set up....

Upon completion of the main rack, I swiped the top from the old rack, which is of plywood construction and covered with a formica that matches the
smaller companion rack; and they both closely complement the rest of my office furniture.

Prior to construction of the new rack I ordered from Ivan a batch of Wireworld Oasis interconnects, and rewired a portion of the system. As the construction
neared completion I ordered the balance of the interconnects so that entire loom would be wired in WW Oasis.

Things were quite the mess behind this system, so while setting up I took the opportunity to tidy up a bit as I hooked up the components with the new cables.

I spent all of Saturday and Sunday staining the rack, installing the top, rewiring and setting up the system. By Sunday night I was pretty much done,
but I was still awaiting a walnut case for the Crown DL-2 power module. I have found an excellent source for superbly crafted, exact replicas of the
original Crown cabinets. The Cabinet for the power module arrived Monday.
I have my order in Queue for the cabinets for the DL-2 Controller and the EQ-2 Equalizer. I won't have these until sometime after Oct. 11.

I do not at this time have a TV on the top, as I decided it is time to retire the nice but massive Sony CRT television that once resided there; as it is
really too tall once placed on the top of this rather tall (55.5" overall) rack.
This weekend I plan to purchase (or at least order) a newer, 32" LED TV which will be close to 4" shorter than the standard aspect TV.

So the pictures that follow show how the system looks at this moment:

I am quite pleased with the results....it was well worth the trouble to construct the new piece of furniture. The shelf openings for the components appear
slightly large at the moment, but once I've procured the remaining walnut cases everything will look just as it should. I've paid attention to clearances in the
construction and with the new cable lengths to allow for accessibility to work on the system.

I've wanted to own this particular system since the late 70's-early 80's, but it retailed over $6K for the three primary components at that time-well beyond
my young means at that time. I consider myself very fortunate that this system came together all within the last 5-6 months.

I will update this thread as the final pieces fall into place to complete the system as I have planned.

Thanks for looking!

Pete
