..I just ordered two Quantum Purple fuses from Synergistic Research. Prior to ordering I called McIntosh just to confirm fuse size and specs and got a lecture from Ron Cornelius. He asked me if a fuse had blown and I sheepishly said no that I was replacing them. He told me it would void the warranty..moot point, my 601 amps are way out of warranty…then went on to lecture me about how electricity gets to our homes traveling miles and miles in big wires and cables and how ridiculous it is to think that a little 20mm length of wire can make a difference..much like the argument about audiophile PCs…he went on to say “just ask any electrical engineer”. I tried to say that I am a EE but he just talked over me…I hung up….grrrr. Granted the engineer in me has trouble grasping how a fuse can impact sonics but after hearing positive testimony after testimony from credible sources…well we shall see..
