One trick you can use is a heavy plastic floor liners you use in an office under your chair to protect the carpet. The topside is smooth but the underside has many small plastic spikes so the liner digs into the carpet and will not slide. You can buy these from an office supply store and cut them to fit the tops of your speakers and leave them with the smooth side face down and the plastic spikes facing up - the spikes will not harm your cat or dog as they are not that sharp but will train them not to lay there (or wherever) you would prefer they did not hang out. Works like a charm
