Please refer to an earlier post by Debbie Wilson of Wilson Audio. Most cable manufacturers do not say to clean contacts either, but when you clean out oxidized crud from pins & connectors, you can hear a difference. Is it an absolute necessity? Probably not, but maintaining your system does have its sonic benefits.
