It would work fine, but it is better if it sits on a platform of some type, similar to how you would treat an amplifier.
It has a built-in aluminum platform and stainless steel feet. But a good shelf/stand from one of the great rack builders works well. Symposium, HRS, Core-Design, IsoAcoustics and many others. Some people are using thick butcher blocks or planks of granite to good effect.
