Dear TOGA

Ortofon SPU carts are available in different shell constructions.
1. The A shell, does only fit with tonearms with an A geometry - arms, which fit is the EMT 997 or example or a custom ordered Schick 12" A geometry arm.
A shell SPU´s are not anymore made.

2. G Shell carts, which is what is available at the moment.
For those carts you must use an arm which has a compatible G shell geometry. An Arm which can handle a G Shell is for example again the Thomas Schick 12" - now the standard one, which has a G Shell geometry.

3 The N Series SPU - now it gets interesting for all those fans, who do not have a compatible Arm with SME bajonett an correct geometry because the N series SPU´s have a normal 1/4" mounting system, they come with a special adapter.

But - and this is a big BUT....an Ortofon SPU has a compliance of under 8cu, it needs an heavy arm.
Arms which fit the bill for example:
Reed configured to 19g
Schröder Reference can be made even heavier

As the N SPU´s do not have the integrated Shell, they are much lighter, so the arm has to have more mass as with the integrated G or A shell SPU´s.

If you do it right, SPU experience is something very, very special.
A proper SPU system needs:
A record player with torque or mass, like Garrard 301, 401, Thorens TD 124, EMT, Platine Verdier, Nouvelle Platine, Technics Direct Drives, Bauer DPS III, Micro Seiki, Modern idler drive tables, as the Reed for example.

Proper arm with enough effective mass and in case of the Shell SPU´s proper geometry such as a Schick 12" for example-

A compatible SUT, SPU´s sound much more like the real thing with a matching SUT.
Fantastic SUT´s are, Hommage T1, Air Tight ATH2A, Kondo KSL, Cotter low impedance ....

A matching RIAA to such a SUT - means a very good MM RIAA.

If that is all checked - it might be your last cart.
If not, you will have losse bass which does not reach too deep, not enough resolution, air and treble, not a natural kind of dynamic.

Greetings Ekki
