Default I solved an issue with Amati Futura and Stillpoints Ultra 5

If you own the Futuras, you know their designed with a double plinth.
If you also own Ultra 5's with the supplied thread sizing to replace the supplied spikes, you may realize as i did (back in 2018), the thread that exists between the top and bottom plinth cant be removed.

This meant you would rest the 5s directly on plinth, losing the 3 degree rake as the 5s are all one size.
I recently asked Will Kline of Sonus Faber how important the rake design was to the overall sound.

He said it was very important to lock in correct time domain. He believed there may be other positions the speakers could be set at which would also lock in the time alignment...you had to play around with trying different positions.

Here is the work around figured out to maintain the 3 degree rake angle.
1) screw in the Stillpoints supplied thread into the rear (smaller) SF spikes.
2) on 2 Ultra 5's, screw in the threaded spikes
3) turn the 5s over so the spikes are facing the CARPET. I wouldn't try this with hardwood or concrete floors.
4) Lower the washers connected to the SF thread just enough so they're not touching the plinth. (Paul from Stillpoints gave me this tip)
5) Rest the speakers so the SF thread is sitting inside the larger hole of the 5s.
6) do the same with rear - no spikes on rear.

Doing it this way can restore the 3 degree rake and keeps all the Ultra 5s benefits.

I should mention that Stillpoints can custom make threads to properly fit the 5's to the Futuras ( as originally intended) but its will cost over $1000 to do it.
A non starter for me.
Anyway, for those who haven't already figured this out, give it a try and see if you like it.
