I agree with the "go for it!" crew. Also, I have to assume Jim Smith's concern is over playing both sets of speakers simultaneously--every hifi dealer in the world has multiple pairs of speakers sitting idle nearby during demos.

But you might think about a couple of potential constraints--do you really have room for both well-positioned Maggies and well-positioned JBLs in the same room? Also, if you have any sort of psychic or actual budget, wouldn't you get better sound spending all you money on a single pair rather than half your money on each of two?
