Mark.......Welcome to Audio Aficionado. Your brother should be the first to tell you hanging around here can be financially dangerous. Now, lets spend some money.

I like the Infinity Kappa 9's. The oak cabinets were gorgeous. The cabinet design looks current even against what is available today. There biggest drawback is they need power. Maybe an MC300, or an MC7270 would be the starting point. Those are both great amps, aren't budget busters, and you see them around fairly often. I owned a MC300 for 13 years, and loved it. It was performing as good they day I sold it , as the day I bought it new. I suggest these amps as an attempt to stay within the price range David stated.

You may want to recap the Infinity's crossovers, too. Some 20+ years make old caps suspect.
