This is exactly my case. Not a headphone person, own HD650. I purchased the Empyrean and found it to be something like HD650 on steroids - similar sound signature, but more of everything, quite to my taste. It is the opposite of HD800, which for me was too analytical/bright and lacked bass.
If you tried and liked HD650, you will like these more. I am using the Empyrian with an old Violectric head amp (HPA V200), which drives them
easily, but it s due for an upgrade. I am looking at their newer models that just started to appear (DHA V590, HPA V550).
