The sound signature feels like Accuphase. Detailed and sweet without being fatiguing. The most impressive is how the headphone creates a wide separation of layers beyond your ears. It is a wide soundstage but not quite in front of you the way that the HD800 could. But I don’t like how the HD800’s sound signature.

HD800 is far too accurate and detail oriented sounding for my taste. I do not enjoy "studio grade" accurate headphones. I prefer the warmer and more organic sound that sacrifices a bit of perceived resolution and detail for musicality.
Sounds like the Empyrean is worth investigating for my taste and preference. Thanks for the feedback.
