Any truth to this?
No, that is unfortunate bad reviews generated when Sonos had a clumsy release and no longer updated older legacy systems (all still work, just no longer getting latest features). I have had excellent results with Sonos for close to a decade and now use the connects as Roon endpoints. I remain a loyal customer - two years back, an update caused a Gen 1 Play-5 to lose functionality - a new latest version Play-5 was sent out same day, no muss no fuss. Very stable software, not glamorous, and no support for anything beyond Redbook (std CD). The connect is now the 'Port'.
