I agree with Charles's message that a C22 is a good mate for the MDA200--I think this would also be equivalent to a C2700.
Although preamps such as the C22 seem like added cost and complexity for a digital-only system, I believe a good preamp such as the C22 or C2700 delivers a much richer sound than a DAC with a volume control direct to a power amp

Peter, I would say that you have summed it up quite well. I think the MDA200 is aimed at C-22 owners like you that desire a complete Mac signature system. This would include me if I owned a C-22. If I bought a 2700 a MDA200 would not be a consideration.
