Astronomy can be very similar to high-end audio
Since a night in 1962 I got hooked on astronomy. Magnifying light can be much like reproducing and amplifying sound. Good optics are critically important. So, early exploration with an inexpensive telescope is great fun. But start applying really good optics and it just gets better and better. With today's telescopes, in particular refractors like a 4" or 5" Takahashi and some high quality eyepieces (think $600+) it becomes a whole new thing. Highly recommended.
