Default R.I.P. Bruce Edgar

(Shared with permission)

Greetings all:

Nick telephoned me this morning informing me of the passing on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 by Covid-19 of his friend and loudspeaker mentor, Bruce Edgar. Many years ago, before hurricane Katrina, our club members were privileged to attend a meeting hosted by both Nick and Henry where, guest speaker, Bruce Edgar treated us to a one hour plus biographical history and lecture regarding the science behind the designing of Tractrix horns. This was followed by a stunning demonstration of a monolithic Bruce Edgar designed subwoofer masterfully built by our very own master furniture maker/ loudspeaker builder Nick. To say that Bruce Edgar was simply an interesting gentleman would be a gross understatement. Bruce Edgar was a genius and an innovator of horn loaded loudspeaker designs. Bruce Edgar was a highly respected engineer, a highly regarded, innovative loudspeaker designer, and a giving gentleman. Bruce Edgar will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to have known him and by those who studied his published research and his teachings and were concomitantly able to profit from his work.

With the greatest respect,
Robert, El Presidente, New Orleans Audio Club
