cmalak,

Thanks, and I sure do hope I'll be able to sort out the amp selection real soon, once that's done, then I'm off to buy the Ayre DX-5.

The Ayre DX-5 appeals to me on many levels in that it allows me to simplify not only my audio needs, but also my video needs in a one-box solution without compromising performance. I will also be coupling the DX-5 to a DVDO iScan Duo video processor (figured that a Lumagen vp would probably be overkill for me) to squeeze out the last drops of video performance (I hope), but in reality, since both the DX-5 and iScan Duo have Anchor Bay's ABT2010 second-generation video processing chip, I'm expecting the Color Management System on the iScan Duo to be the main differentiator here.

As for other digital sources that I have considered, well at one point I was looking at the dCS Puccini SACD/CD player & U-Clock, Boulder 1021, Berkeley Audio Design's Alpha DAC & Alpha USB. But end of the day, the DX-5 remained at the top of my shortlist due to the fact that I love the Ayre house sound (I'm using an Ayre KX-R preamp & Ayre QB-9 USB DAC for now), and it also is simply an elegant/comprehensive solution for all my digital source needs (from silver disc to computer audio), plus it's a helluva lot cheaper to go down this route!

Philip
