Not too late. I have been marooned in Rockford on a work assignment that was supposed to be finished long ago but might never end.
I keep hearing Bill Murray/Phil Connors saying there is no way this day is EVER going to end. LOL
I have pretty much decided to build a preamp. I posted in the Pass Labs subforum diyAudio forum asking for a recommendation of a diy preamp that was an appropriate match for an X250.5. Wayne Colburn (Pass Labs pre-amp/phono pre/first stage designer) replied and recommended a diy preamp.
I built a Pass Labs diy Pass Pearl II several years ago, one of Wayne's designs, and have been very happy with it. My 'day job' involves electronic abatement/containment at the microvolt level so I am pretty comfortable with these types of projects.
It will be a two box configuration with separate power supply and preamp sections.
Should be fun!
