Howard...my first experience with JBL's was, a friend of mine's dad had a pair of Lancer 99's-a 2 way system that was , say, the size of one-third of the S8R's front grille with the same latticework grille. It utilized the LE14A woofer in a vented bookshelf enclosure. They blew the doors off my AR-2AX's I had at the time. That was around 1974. I drooled over them until around 1978 when I finally bought a pair of L100's. The rest, as they say, is history.
