I'm considering the K03, but really had to stop and rethink things. I just don't spin anything more than once anymore -- I just rip all my discs as soon as I get them. So I don't want to invest into a transport. I read that Esoteric came out with the D07-X and have seen some good reviews, but I also see the K05 which also has the AK4399 DAC just like the K03. The spec/MSRP sheet Ivan posted says the K03 and K05 have the same number of DAC chips. So here's where I think things are with their lineup:

K03 - 4x AK4399 DACs (VRDS-Neo Transport)
K05 - 4x AK4399 DACs (VRDS-VMK5 Transport)

D0-7X - 2x AK4392 DACs


So I would think that as a straight DAC, the K03 and K05 would sound very similar. The real question is how similar the K03 and K05 are to the D0-07X? Anyone have any experience hearing all the above and or insight or see any inaccuracies with the specs above? Appreciate everyone's thoughts.

It's a shame they don't make the exact DAC configuration in the K03 and K05 as a straight DAC.
