I've had the good fortune to hear the organ at Notre Dame during high mass on a couple of occasions. The magnitude of the sound and utter depth of the bass cannot IMHO ever be reproduced via recording and playback. The in person experience is truly soul stirring and deeply emotional.

As to sub integration you can get either abysmal results or truly spectacular results. It all depends on system synergy and how well you've managed to integrate them.

In my small room I ran 2 SVS SB1000 subs behind my Magnepan 1.7's with terrific results. No way you could ever tell I had subs running.
