I am stating my observation. The center under bright light appears to be white in color, like the washer that holds the internal spring in place. I took a small screwdriver and scrapped at it. It's not plastic but is is a soft metal.
I am not happy with these bind posts and am think about replacing them with a set of Edison price binding post.
BTW I don't like being accused of being some sort in conspiracy theorist nut job.
