All components made with an electrical cord must meet UL Standards. That means they cannot have a "Hot" chassis ground. Most do in fact have a negative Chassis ground, just like a car does.
I simply let my ears decide if it is of benefit or not. In my cases, they all proved to sound better when I ran a ground cable to them.
Even my Router which only has a 2 prong plug benefited greatly from a ground cable to Altaira.
