I disagree that it wasn't plausible. Carrie had many misgivings throughout the series about what was happening around her. When they showed her "working room" walls and desk covered with headlines and photos which I assume this was the basis for her book, she was thinking back to those events that don't go well for the most part.

Just because she ran away to save her ass (and probably life) at the end does not mean she was a traitor. They made it seem she still wanted to help her country and maybe even Saul.

In my own mind I am not sure whether Saul was correct or Carrie was correct. Was saving one life more important than the tens of thousands who would have been killed had a tactical nuclear war occurred.
