We use an OPPO 205 as well. It appears your TV is always the source for the Oppo except when actually playing disks (of course). In that case, I recommend using the ARC (HDMI 3) output of the TV only to the OPPO. This passes the full audio down to the Oppo (SPDIF/Optical often only passes 2 channel audio). Let the Oppo do the down mix. In this way the OPPO processes all audio - set the time delay in the OPPO using their menus.

Some good youtube videos out there to help this (bouncing ball with test sound ping, etc.)
