Yeah it's kind of funny how now that the GR/G are out audiophiles are finally accepting the 1200s. The original was never meant to be a DJ turntable, it just turned out that way and got that reputation.
I've heard everything from a G and GR are slightly different to night and day different. Certainly if I was going for a primary TT I'd go with the G even if I was only getting 5% more than a GR. I think there's something for everyone in the new Technics lineup, but on the lower end you've also got the super OEM TTs like the Reloop as strong contenders.
