Hi Rodney..just to revisit this post. i have had this unit for a few months now and have become more familiar with it.

You say that type "1" is fine, but in reality it is fixed at #66 or #65 volume.

Which contradicts what you said "65 is too low". ( assuming you meant variable level "0")

What i mean is ( unless i still dont know what the heck i am doing) lol,

type 0 is variable--0-99..and should be set to 87?

type 1 is fixed (65/66) and sounds too low to me

why would meriadian set the fixed output so low that your preamp has to be turned up so high. which seems to congest the sound?
