Default JL Advertisement in Stereophile

I received the new Stereophile yesterday and was thumbing through it when I came across a JL ad. The ad shows a picture of a bass driver from, I guess, their new E-100 and E-112 subs. Unless I've got it wrong, I noticed that the driver's connectors appear to be male "spade" lugs atop black and red plastic pieces. I thought this an odd, almost cheap, way to connect a driver on a high end subwoofer.

Are the spade lugs indeed the way that JL wires up these new subwoofers or are they used for something other than connecting to the internal amplifiers? Makes me want to open up my speaker and see how it's wired.
