Schiit Yggdrasil wins Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award for 2017

Schiit's TOTL DAC, Yggdrasil, known affectionately as "Yggy" has won an Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award for 2017.

Brief quote from Robert Harley:

"If you’re looking for a DAC that does quad-rate DSD, decodes MQA, offers a volume control, and includes a headphone amp, look elsewhere. But if the very best reproduction of PCM sources is your goal, the Yggdrasil is the ticket. It’s a spectacular performer on an absolute level, and an out-of-this-world bargain."

Hi Steve,

Been a while.

I see you have a couple of Schiit components and from what I remember you're quite pleased with them. Have you heard the DAC in question? And if so, your impressions and comparisons maybe as to what you do have.

Regards,

Stephen.......Yes, I saw the Golden Ear Award in the September issue of The Absolute Sound. Robert Harley gushed over the Schiit Yggdrasil DAC. This might be a DAC to purchase before Schiit changes the price.

I love the approach and the sound of this dac. Top shelf performance for not a lot of money. Reminds me of the MDA 1000 sound, only better!

There's a lot out there on this. Some folks prefer the Gumby. I hope to listen to both in the near future but my gut is going with the Gumby.

I like the Schiit phliosophy from design to manufacturing to distribution. Also the user accolades and modular design upgrade paths.

UGGG...I guess I'm a value oriented guy using amps originally designed over 50 years ago.

It should receive extra points for refusing to use the MQA scam.

You weren’t able to hear any difference in cables; do you think that makes them a scam also? :scratch2:

With one swift post Ivan opens up the creaky door to the debate of hell itself. The dreaded cable debate... :lmao:
