Harbeth users check in

So, for what is renowned as one of the most musical speakers ever, we see to have very few users here...

I just ordered some Compact 7es3's to add to my now beloved Luxman 590 A-II

Let's hear from other owners.

DonBattles 05-13-2012 06:30 PM

Nice combo and in my small room they are just wright. If I had a larger room I'd be looking at the M30 or M40 as the 7es3's seem a bit light on the bottom end. But all in all the Harbeth's are a good match for the Luxman.

Loop4fun 05-13-2012 06:39 PM

Love 'em!

So you have Latours and Harbeth... which do you listen to and when?

NeilNZ 05-14-2012 01:42 AM

I have some SHL5s with my Leben CS600, and they're great. I plan on moving to a Monbrison/Montrachet combo soonish so we shall see how they go with Shindo.

AndyPandy 05-14-2012 02:36 AM

I had the SHL5's and Luxman D 05 / 550A II combo. Was very nice. Found the 5's needed a little welly to get the most out of them: they liked decoupling from their stands - or so I found.

Hard to get to sound bad; hard to get to sound great IMHO. The Luxxies make them sound great IMHO.

I'd like to see a set of P3ESRs in a bookshelf wall.

I too have always wanted to hear some 3,s in a bookshelf set up.

I love a room lined with bookshelves and a pair of quality monitors tastefully tucked on the shelves.

Stephen,

I actually don't have the Latour. I have the Lafite and use them now in my main system. I use the C7es-3s in a second system with a Brio R and an Oppo 95.

The desire for an all Shindo system hit me and I replaced the C-7s with the Lafite. The Cortese was really not enough power for the Harbeths, even though my listening room is small. 12x13

Regards,

Bill

BTW, I really covet your 301 system. I'm awfully tempted at some point to order one from Matt. He tells me I'll think something is wrong with my current TT once I replace it with the Shindo.

Stephen,

This stellar review gives me the will to buy a pair !

Never had the please of listening to the DeVores and almost picked up a pair of Super 8's. But one day I was at at a local shop named The Analog Room and they carried Harbeth's and that was good enough for me :)

I've always wanted to go there.

Real music LOVERS!!!

I am hoping the Harbeth's will be all that I have always heard about.

I love the company and their philosophy.

Harbeth C7ES3 owner here. I’ve been through B&W, Mission, KEF and Spendor. I love my Harbeths. Mostly jazz with classical thrown in for good measure. Then there’s the 70’s and 80’s rock. They do everything well.

Yes, it is surprising how well they handle everything. I read about them for years in reviews in Stereophile, TAS and HiFi+ with the all reviewers raving about them. I didn't understand why they were raving about what was a rather non-descript-looking wooden box.

Until I finally heard them..:music:

And then there are your Harbeth 30.2 which are even more widely reviewed and praised than the C7ES3. I had regularly heard Harbeths at trade shows and was very impressed. There is a local dealer who set up an impressive demo for me and the rest is history.

A speaker you can live with for the rest of your life.

Can’t help imaging what would happen if you added a subwoofer or two...

I use mine with a REL R-305 subwoofer. Works very well; I did a DOE analysis with integrate it with the 30.2s.

ATC2 08-11-2020 01:47 PM

Well played Sir... (Thumbs up)

GreginNH1 08-29-2020 01:02 PM

While I have moved on from Harbeth, I must admit that it is one on the few speakers I really enjoyed thoroughly. They have just enjoying the music instead of analyzing the sound.

orosie 01-13-2021 02:30 PM

SHL5 Plus XD!

That’s beautiful system.

New member.

SimAudio Moon 260 transport > Denafrips Pontus DAC > Hegel h160 Integrated amp > Harbeth 30.1 speakers

Very happy with the (newly developed) system, and expect it to improve, perhaps substantially, after I move into a larger home later this year.
