Wonder what prompted Accuphase to go with E-5000 rather than E-500.

Seems odd - either a typo that has slipped through the cracks or a sign of things to come?

They really couldn't; there have been E-530, E-550 models and so on (Class-A integrateds before they morphed into E-600, E-650 and so on) so the 500-series was sort of old news.

Like the E-800, a big step up in size & power. The ne plus ultra of integrated amps?

990000 Yen converts to 8688.24 USD. I didn't know Accuphase made anything under 10G's.

Now 150000 Norwegian Kroner converts to 17253 USD. Probably more like it. Of course the import duties and VAT they pay over there accounts for a stiff price increase.

Maybe Ivan can chime in on the "real" price.
