SimAudio CD Players
They get good press, but I cannot find many discussions about them on the interwebs.
Curious as to reliability as "The Boss" has finally granted permission to upgrade my CXC transport to a nicer transport or player. As a retiree this will be the last spinner I ever purchase. So I gotta make it count. Budget is around $US2K, so the SimAudio Neo260D transport seems perfect. I plan to run through my D100 so a player is not really needed. I like the new Bryston CD player, however at 3.5bones it's gonna be a stretch and not sure if the DAC redundancy is ideal. Any SimAudio player owners here care to chime in? |
Humbuster.......Reading the online information and the owner's manual for the SimAudio Neo260D, it certainly appears to be a very nice transport with the option of also having a DAC installed. Using the player as a transport only with the McIntosh D100 should give you excellent sound. SimAudio's products are well made so this transport shold last you a long time.
Here is the Owner's manual for those interested: http://www.simaudio.com/DATA/PRODUIT...tional-dac.pdf |
I am only guessing here, but I think dan's recent change of avatar is only priming us for holiday season...

All things being equal is the Bryston BCD3 player @ $3500 US a better purchase sound wise and reliability than the Simaudio 260d (DAC and transport) @ $3000US?
Interested in hearing from Bryston CD player owners about their impressions. |
Auditioned the 260D today.
A truly superb player. I cannot conceive of any player at this price point sounding better. Placing my order shortly. |
I would sell the D100 and stretch for the 500/600 series player/dac. They are superb and I suspect will surpass the performance of the D100. :music:

I was very impressed at the 260D. I believe it will provide a very cost effective improvement to my system and unlike the Bryston player, I have the option to install the internal DAC to the 260D if necessary. |
Are you sure about the 3.5K US?...
That is the MSRP for CDN dollars. James Tanner has now confirmed they begin shipping 23 Dec. Here is the latest pic... http://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=154996 That will go very nicely with the my BDA3... |

As a point of comparison, I'm currently listening to my music via SONOS (Remedy Clocker) -> BDA3... which I think is very good. Once the CD3 is in the mix the sound should be better. |
Local dealer in US quoted me US$3495.
