SUBJECT: Bryston Model T ‘ACTIVE’ – Customer Feedback

July, 2019

Hi James,

I picked up the Bryston BAX-1 Active Crossover today from Ron at Altronics.

Ron said he spoke to Bryston and advised Bryston of my setup and that the BAX-1 was already programmed for me. Basically plug and play.

So that’s what I did and I remembered to reverse the cables for the one amplifier. I powered up everything and the lights on the BAX started in red and then went to yellow and then turned green. I put a CD into the player and listened to a few songs that I use to gage the quality of speakers and I have only one word.

WOW !!!!

It is simply more of everything with much greater detail, imaging and presentation than I ever imagined.

It is not just an incremental increase but a whole new ball game.

The speakers now coax out detailed sounds in the music that I never heard before. Bass, midrange and highs are all more pronounced and present.

Well done guys you deserve a resounding pat on the back. I am officially addicted.

I will put the speakers through their paces this weekend in more arduous testing.

Sincerely,
Dave

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to let you know how unbelievable my Bryston A3 towers are.

Suspension of disbelief. Absolutely!

My speakers disappear during listening sessions. As the volume increases, the sound just gets better, more full.

I am so happy that I stepped into the Brystons! I cannot sing their praises enough.

Thank you for such a great “ entry “ level speaker! There is nothing missing in the music during playback. When comparing these to another brand, the difference in the Brystons ability to produce bass and the right treble is unbelievable.

Thank you!
Mark Kaminski

SUBJECT: Bryston MODEL T-REX Ultimate Theater

James Kliewer of Performance Home Theater in California has designed and installed an ‘ULTIMATE’ Bryston Home Theater.

Hi James

We have sound!

I hope your doing well and staying virus free. I appreciate you and everything done to get these speakers built. I remember meeting with you early one CES morning when Bryston speakers were just being released. You were so excited about this T Rex concept, with 2 speaker parts stacked upon each other and how you dreamed they would perform. I left that room 6-7 years ago SOLD! Now they are a reality. I remember you had some resistance on your T Rex concept. Thank you for not folding to the resistance.

The sound of the Active T-Rex is huge. The theater space is full, there is no area of the room where the saturation of sound isn’t. It even sounds so much better in our theater lobby. Details like drum brushes, horn note drops and vocal details are now so clear even in our lobby with the doors open. Our theater seats 18 people, it’s not a small space. The

T Rex speakers have a large volume sweet spot that excites, even at lower volume levels. My first demo response was WOW,WOW,WOW, I have not had chill bumps like that before!

What I like most about Bryston speakers is a value you seldom hear, and that’s the lack of listening fatigue. I have listened to music in our theater for 14 hours straight. Most, if not all speakers will not perform this way. The sound is amazing. We also added the Bryston TOW on wall speakers.

Now we are in Business. This room was meant for these speakers. I demoed the theater Saturday, and the response was continued WOWS and I’m getting chill bumps.

Thanks again
James Kliewer

Here is a list of my Bryston components.

• 2- Model ACTIVE T REX Left/Right

• TC-1 Center

• 6- TOW On-wall

• BIT 20 Isolation Transformers

• 21B 3-Channel Amplifiers

• 28B Mono Amplifiers

• SP4 Surround Processor

• BAX 1 Active Digital Crossover

Just curious (for now, anyway). I've seen the passive version of the Model T is about $870 more than the active version. Why would that be? Or is this the "Signature" version that I've heard about, rather than the original passive one? Thanks.

Hi prepress

Yes originally we had 3 versions of the Model T - the Passive version, the Signature version and the Active version.

Now we just have the two - Passive and Active.

So the Signature version was a bit higher in price because the Passive crossover was external.

Ok, so do both models now have external crossovers, or only the passive one? It looks like the active crossover is internal but requires a different setup, if I understand the diagrams I've seen.

James Tanner - Bryston 06-21-2020 05:57 AM

Hi

No the Passive version has the crossover built in - there are NO external Passive crossovers anymore.

The Active version uses the BDA-1 Electronic outboard crossover. So the Active version is more expensive because you need the external electronic crossover.

Ah, so the vendor website I was looking at has the prices mixed up. They listed the passive as being more expensive. Thanks.

PierreB 06-21-2020 08:44 AM

Maybe they forget to include the price of the electronic outboard crossover with the active model T.

James a big thank you for all you did !!!!

Slam, and gentle at the same time! The imaging is incredible. Powerful and yet have a calming effect as they just do not ever sound stressed.

These are by far the best speakers I have ever heard. Everyone in my family feel the same. These are truly giant killers! and if they are 4 times the cost they would still be an incredible speakers!!!!!

Hats of to James for this most incredible speaker! The Model T's are really something to hear and proud owner here!

Hi Folks,

Here is a recent tour of the Axiom Speaker factory - it obviously deals with Axiom products but the philosophy and substance is applicable to our Bryston speakers as well.

BRYSTON MODEL T SPEAKERS

Hi James

I’m a former Cruise Ship audio and lighting/video engineer. I also helped build Casino Rama entertainment. The live entertainment stuff. Kingbridge Centre as well – so I know live sound.

Love'n the Bryston system.

I purchased them in late February 2019. They've been breaking in ever since. I leave the TV on the Bryston system while I'm out so they've had a nice breaking in period. Listen. I've put just about any kind of music and genre's threw these giant killers.

They are giant sounding! Enormous sound stage. And so linier. Simply effortless reproduction of any source I've feed them. I'm very impressed.

I previously had the Bryston A1's. A great, great speaker system in and of themselves. I expected a marginal difference. In my environment I've noticed a substantial vibrant 3D warm embracing sound.

I absolutely love the Bryston system. BP-6, 4Bsst2, Model T's.

I'm purchasing a 14B3 asap and this will make the drivers work a bit more. Lol....

Sincerely
KBV

Axiom and Bryston contraction?

I know the vinyl wrap finishes have been discontinued but curious about the sheen. Compared to the wood veneers, was the vinyl more reflective of light in a home theatre?
