Hi Ollie

The 3.14 can serve as a preamp but the preamp output is driven by the internal DAC's. With the BR-20 there is a pure class A analog gain stage for the preamplifier section.

also wondering about the phono (as above - will it take the BP-17(3) phono board)? Where will it be installed within the unit? Which input will it take? rca 1 or 2? and will a grounding post be added to the back?
