Should AXPONA 2020 go on?
I work in the audio industry and we are exhibiting at AXPONA 2020. As of today, the show looks to be on as scheduled. My question to you all it, should it?
UPDATE: “Dear AXPONA Community, AXPONA has been rescheduled from April 17-19 to August 7-9, 2020 out of concern for the health and safety of all participants due to the growing Coronavirus situation.” |
No.

The risk just doesn't seem worth it. If it was to go on and there was a large outbreak traced back to the show it would seem silly that it could have been easily prevented.
|
A high percentage of the prospective attendees are of an age most susceptible to complications from this virus.
|
The nature of a hifi show having everyone crammed into a small hotel room is the real problem with these shows. I wouldn’t blame people for not attending in this kind of environment.
|
In my opinion it is not worth the risk. Far too many people in close quarters for a guarantee of safety. Given the recent availability issues with hand sanitizer and wipes it does not seem like a sensible thing to move forward with.

Should AXPONA 2020 go on?
Responsible vendors should pressure show sponsors to cancel and/or refuse to participate because they would be subjecting their employees to unnecessary health risks.
Attendees have the personal option to attend. Vendor employees do not. Tom |
you guys made some great points. From last year a large number of attendees are 40 and above and that is the age range at most risk as far as what we know at this point.
AXPONA vendor contract states no refund on cancellation after May 15, 2019 - a year ago. I wonder if people got the virus and is able to trace back to the show, would the show organizers be held responsible for knowingly putting large groups of people at risk? |
I firmly believe unfortunately the show won’t go on, this crap is a mess.

I'm surprised they have not cancelled it already.
My son lives in Chicago and the company he works for has a plan in place for employees to work from home if this gets worse. Regards AJ |
