Tubes for VK-D5SE

I recently bought a nice used VK-D5SE cd player and would like to know if anyone has tried 6H6P/6N6P tubes in it? It's got Sovtek 6H30P's in it and I've got a quad of Electro-Harmonix 6H30Pi gold pins and a quad of Russian Novosibirsk 6H6P-i's that are leftovers from a couple of Little Dot headphone amps. The EH and Sovtek tubes appear to be same tubes except for the gold pins on the EH's. Kevin Deal also says they are the same on his site. I've read that it's possible to use the 6H6P/6N6P tubes in this unit but I've also read that it's not a good idea. I'd like to get more top end sparkle and bring the cymbals forward a bit with this player but there's no way I'm going to buy the almost unobtanium crazy expensive 6H30P-DR oem tubes. OMHO the ones for sale on the web are probably fakes and I can't/won't afford them anyway. Just curious if I can try the 6H6P/6N6P tubes that I have on hand without ill effects?
Thanks,
Sam

It's unwise to experiment with tube substitutions without first checking with the manufacturer, imo.
