I'm with you on this. I recognize it's a great recorded album but I'm just not into this type (improv? unstructured?) jazz. Unfortunately, a lot of jazz is this way. Don't get me wrong I love other types of jazz and the artist are truly amazing at what they do but the results are lost on me. My wife on the other hand loves it. To each his own.

PS. The only time I was intrigued by this type of jazz was when my daughter performed it on stage in a jazz high school band recital. The instructor was into jazz big time and he did a great job working with the kids.

True I suppose it’s great but I just can’t hear it!
It’s got a big following which I respect.

I agree. I can't get thru it either.

That’s what makes the world go around. Love Kind of Blue but can’t get through Patricia Barber Cafe Blue. Equally loved by many.

Same here. When I first heard KoB I must have played it through 3-4 times non-stop. For me at least, the combination of Coltrane, Adderley, Davis, and Evans is pure magic. Cannonball Adderley’s solo on Flamenco Sketches is one of the most beautiful sax solos on record.

+2.

I never tire of hearing Kind Of Blue.
I remember buying my first version of it.
There was just one copy left in the store, but it was reserved, for another customer.
The shop-assistant saw my desperation - I really wanted this record! - and he left it to me...

Love it or not, it is a personal taste that cannot be judged

Ditto :)

In the TV series Suits, Harvey plays Kind of Blue late in the evening at the office, as a way to unwind, with a glass of whisky in his hand. I think that's the way to savour the experience

My favourite Miles Davis track is still quite a conventional arrangement.
