PH 9.0 phono stage

Hello,

Anyone own one and if so, what are your thoughts? I’m looking at upgrading to a dedicated phono stage, currently using my Mc C2300, and the PH 9 is on my short list.

Thanks,

Jacob

Hey Jacob, tried to respond to your post on the AZ Holograms. For some reason I am not able to post on there but I am interested.

I own the PH 9.0 since 2020/03 and I am very very happy with it.
Sorry for my poor english so I can’t really express my feeling but before the ModWright I had the Simaudio 310LP + 320S for about 4 years and the Simaudio is a great phono but the ModWright is, for me, superior. In general the sound is more natural, more lifelike if I can said that.
Also the PH 9.0 is very quiet. For a tube phono, I’m very impress. And the quality of the product is A1.

Well, I owned a PH8 for many years... it was great. Before that several earlier PHs. I am fortunate now to have a REF3.

I use a PH 9.0 in my system bypassing the phono stage in my Hovland HP100MC Pre. I auditioned several phono pre’s previously and found the sound presentation to be excellent. Good synergy with Soundsmith Paua MK II, but had to have Modwright provide a 1000 ohm input option.

The PH 9.0x is even better in all areas, and a nice upgrade over the already great MW PH 9.0

Do you use single ended or balanced outs with the PH 9.0x?

I started with single ended and then switched over to balanced. Both are great but I think balanced out is just a bit better in my system
