C2200 display problem

3 Attachment(s)
Hi,
Unfortunately for me to underestimate the
Severity of this bad display when I purchase the C2200
Used.
Technician suspected there was a short inside the display unit. IC has been replaced. But the diagonal lines
Still show.
Any idea how expensive it will cost me to replace the display ? And where to get one besides my local distributor which they will double the price of that part.
I think it had to do something with the K leg and R9
Int he circuit, but technician said it was internal.

Thank you. Will do. I sent email to Audioclassics yesterday, so far no answer from them yet.

It looks like your tech relied on guesswork rather than actually identifying the problem. One of the hazards of that approach is that even if you guess the failed part correctly, you haven't ruled out that a problem elsewhere in the device triggered the component failure.

I think the suggestion to contact Audio Classics was a good one. There are also other factory-authorized Mac shops that I'm sure could help you. That should be your focus, imo, rather than fixating on the price of parts.

Have you also talked directly to McIntosh. They see parts for their older gear and the C2200 may qualify. When my MA6600 display went nuts they sent me a new chip (similar to the one you've shown) at no cost.

Unfortunately.
A replay from AudioClassics was a bad news.
The part is no longer available.
I thought any Mac would be repairable.

They do not talk to me anymore as it is against the policy.
I do not live in the states.

C2200 display problem

This is one of the reasons I purchased a C22 IV, no display to go bad, no multifunction knobs, no digital section, and basic firmware. My only long term fear is that the toggle switches are no longer being made.
